First project – making and performing with Bunraku style puppet.
Communication between three puppeteers controlling the puppet is one of the most important aspects. They have to work in perfect harmony to give life to an inanimate object. In order to understand Bunraku puppetry more in depth I spent time researching history and meaning of it.
In our performance a communication between puppet and puppeteer was vital. Puppet acknowledges puppeteers, it knows that it is created and moved by us, but it has mind of his own, it wants identity, emotions, it wants a face.
